The core characters remain true to their Austen spirits, but the setting leans heavily into espionage thriller territory. Expect peril, pursuits, and Napoleonic-era stakes. Creative liberties have been taken with period technology to serve the pacing.

A Note on the Two Editions:
There are two ways to experience this journey, and they have developed in very different directions:
- Darcy Double Game: This is the original third-person narrative. As my first foray into this perilous field, it has recently been revised and polished to ensure the best possible experience for the reader.
- Darcy’s Own Double Game: This began as an experiment to see the world through Darcy’s eyes in the first person. However, as I got inside his head, I realized he would act differently than the third-person narrator suggested. The plot diverged, creating a unique story of its own.
The Great Divide:
Interestingly, a clear geographic preference has emerged. My American readers vastly prefer the third-person scope of Darcy Double Game, while my British readers have gravitated toward the internal perspective of Darcy’s Own Double Game. I thank you all for your incredible support!
Literature, like the ciphers in this book, is subjective. I know my reimagining is polarizing—some will love it, and some may “viscerally” dislike it. I accept this with a smile; after all, I hold the same passion for my own bookshelf, from my absolute love of Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice to books I personally cannot finish.
